i've been lax

Sorry, I'm lazy. So, where were we? New Years Eve was pretty fun. We had a big group go out to downtown Denver to bring in '07. It was a good idea in theory, but you know all those things you hear about "amateur night" pretty much held true in downtown. It's a bunch of people getting drunk for maybe the second time all year. On top of that, it was icy so people were falling left and right and there was a severe cab shortage that left us stranded in a pizza joint until about 3:30. Overall it was a pretty fun night, but after 4 years of doing a cabin trip, well let's just say the two are completely different. We missed our cabin trip, but just couldn't get it together this year. The crew of friends we have out here are completely different and much pickier than our old cabin trip bunch, not to mention a cabin trip out here is apparently a pretty popular (and therefore expensive) thing to do for New Years. However, we plan on doing some kind of cabin thing when spring arrives so that should be a good time.
Other than that, not much is going on. I've been working a lot and battling that part of my life since New Years. I am not happy in my job. There are many reasons why this is so, but I've pretty much decided that once I found out if I got in to grad school, I will leave this job. Either way. I feel like my brain is atrophying here and I need to be fresh and smart again if I did get in and if I didn't, I need another path to happiness and this is definitely not it.
In other news, Eric and I started yoga last night. I'm both excited and intimidated about it. It involves much more muscle strength than I had ever thought. I was thinking it'd be a lot of stretching, which I really need, but the fact that there's actual toning involved makes it more challenging. We'll see what happens. Eric's a little freaked out about the stretching involved, he's extremely inflexible, but I'm happy that he's giving it a shot. He's such a good guy.
There are a bunch of really awesome shows coming up. Eric and I are going to see the Shins in February (yayayayayayay!!!!!) and then my friend Justin is coming into town to visit for 4 days (double yayayayay!) and we're going to see the Roots together. I'm excited about these upcoming months: finding out about grad school, shows, yoga, springtime, possible trips to places, mom and the girls visiting (hopefully), and of course JuJu.
I'm going to try to post more in this thing. The issue is that I feel like I only need to post when something interesting happens in my life, but in fact I should be posting all of these random thoughts that go through my mind. I need to get back in the habit of writing in general, so I will try to do so.
Hope everybody's doing well.
